“The worst illness of our time is that so many people have to suffer from not ever being loved” Princess Diana

The news of Princess Diana’s death had brought in its wake a deep sadness and nudged an inevitable questioning as to the manner in which we mortals seek the’ ever elusive’ strain of happiness. If a Princess endowed with beauty, wealth and grandeur had lived her life as if chasing a dream, an impossibility, a mirage, only to get sucked into the illusion of a ‘happily ever after’ love story, then this , if anything, is an exemplification of the fact that happiness is not a commodity, to be acquired, but a verb, to be achieved, painstakingly..A paradox in itself.

What makes Dianas story an eternal Greek tragedy however, is the report that her two sons Princes William and Harry, had invited, to the memorial service of their mother, the second wife of Prince Charles, Camilla their step-mother and the woman alleged to be largely responsible for the turmoil and strife in Dianas life.

That Prince Charles displayed the gumption , gall, to marry the much older, Camilla, soon after the tragic death of his wife Diana, thus vindicating Dianas accusations that there ‘were three of them in this marriage’, was to most sensitive, righteous people a distasteful act which demanded condemnation. It stank of a ‘devil-may-care’ stubbornness, elaborating on the unfairness of a ‘to-be-monarchs’ disloyalty to his marriage partner, as if in complete abandon of responsible and ethical behaviour. His act as if put into words an attitude that spoke of him as a man who took his “titular head” title with inappropriate seriousness, in the sphere of his personal decisions..A King can do no wrong??

sons.jpgLife plays cruel tricks..No monarchy, Crown, or Kingdom can insulate one from angst of human suffering. A crown on the head can soon transform into a crown of thorns, tearing, searing into the flesh, ripping apart any joy or hope for fulfillment. This was what Diana must have felt from the deepest core of her being, at those umpteen occasions, when stories of her husbands treacheries, engulfed her.

One would have expected her sons who, having been privy to her turmoil, to recoil with disgust at their father marrying the woman who had maliciously come in the way of their mothers happiness. Even if one were to philosophically and practically view their acceptance of having a step mother, yet the news of having embraced Camilla into their lives so completely, so wholly, enough to invite her to the memorial service for their mother, was as if defiling whatever remained of her, in their memory.

It was as if she had lived and died in vain. She lived only perhaps to prove to the world that one ought to look for contetment in things beyond the material and also to illustrate how being the focus of media attention is life threatening..literally. She died, being chased by the Paparazzi.

She provided Charles with heirs, who now seem to have forsaken any emotions over their mothers death in what appears to be a stance which reeks of being ‘worldly-wise’..They have everything to gain from being Charles sons..what good would it do being mourners of their mother Dianas death?? Why live in a desultory past when a glorious future lay ahead? Charles role in the matter can never be over estimated. He has insiduously manipulated to have it all…Camilla, his sons and respectability for his bizarre liaison!

Death is a finality, an end. Not merely of life..but relationships. Children are fast learners these days. Someone ought to tap him on the shouder and remind Charles of his own mortality…Nemesis will strike…Children will forget..yet another time.

  2. I was appalled Camilla was invited Kaveetaa!!

I absolutely adored Diana!! I truly believed, she felt Charles was her prince charming.. who then turned out to be prince-louse!

It hurts, to see her sons embrace Camilla.. but, the way I see it; it’s possible only.. b/c they cannot afford to lose thier Dad…

Their family, in essence, are no different than any other combined family of broken marriages…they just happen to live in the lime-light though…

I believe in the core of my soul,,,Diana was murdered.. nothing or nobody can convince me otherwise, and I don’t care what the reports thus far say about it….

Dodi’s Dad, ought to know, if his son was going to ask the Princess of Wales to marry him.. being of a royal-wealth.. Dodi would not have persued Diana, without his Dad’s blessings, I’m positive of this!

They killed Diana.. the monarchy AND the Catholic Church… they have been doing it for thousands of years…..they kill their own, to protect the thrown… history proves this conspiracy of family-murders…

What I loved about Diana, was her seeming innocence of being a princess..though born into wealth..as she says.. some people never have/know what love is.. and this is soOo true!

I hear on the news here in Canada though, that the boys have compiled a special 10 year anniversary documentary about Diana… which is this summer 2007.

    with loving kindness,
    North

  3. s’cuse the typo!!

    throne, NOT thrown.. LOL

though thrown seems fitting in this instance….

Charles got his two male heirs, then Diana got thrown away….

I just don’t get why men don’t cherish their women they choose to marry??

  4. So true North.

“why men don’t cherish their women they choose to marry?”

Or, as in this case. why marry a woman they dont cherish?

His affair with Camilla was on even before his marriage..Some reports state that Diana was Camillas choice for his bride, since she realised the inevitability of his marriage, but felt that Diana was young and inexperienced and would therefore be easily fooled, while the C and C kept at their frollicking.

The games people play…sigh.. Nobility is not a consequence of birth but born of thoughts, words and deeds.

  5. I really feel bad for her life and her death..makes me wonder whether good does infact always have to suffer, while bad rules the roost or what?????????

  6. well… completely disagree..

u cannot ‘always’ have the cake n eat it too. diana is respected, loved n regarded even after the page3’s have stopped hopping arnd the one2many affairs! in search of love?

dunno watz the life like in the west, where love is a mere quantitative issue! counted in yearz of married life et all…
she din stop when she realised that PC was kinda offset towardz ladyC… she tried to move on n who knowz whether she did.. or like find the connection she was lookin for!!

the books, the quotes after her death r like residues of the name, the fame n the stature of the lady she was, or mite even be… but she had her share of life..
n who said life always ends in an inference, some searches take a lifetime.. but mind u- not less than a life time..

  7. Completely disagree as well.sapt.

It is a well known fact that she was scorned by her husband because HE CONTINUED his liaison with Camilla even after they were married. Having n number of men in search of love is not what I am trying to defend. But why deny a wife who has borne you two sons, and yet you have the indecency to ‘want to be re-born as Camillas knickers’.as was the conversation she overheard on the phone between the two of them..why is a nun like stance expected from such a wife???

Having affairs is a defense mechanism a way of revenge or whatever, hardly the ideal life she might have envisaged..and remember it was not she who opted out first..it was Charles..Its impossible to understand just what more could he have asked for in a wife except for the fact that he was shaken by the attention that she aroused..he paled in comparison..Now with Camilla there is NO QUESTION of competition..or rather there is competition, but this time its to do with whose worse of the two:)

Page three life is hollow, dull and plastic..how can anyone not have seen the broken heart?
