Okay ..you can now stop rubbing your eyes in disbelief…you read the header right. Men arent required to make babies anymore. How? Apparently womens bone marrow can create sperm. Wow! And the Bible spoke of woman being created out of a mans collar (?) bone. time to demolish theories and get on with life….creating life. Out with your bones..women. they are sexy!!
So another male bastion falls forever. The news channels went all gung ho making a big deal of it. .of course it is a breakthrough. Just how fortunate it will eventually turn out is a matter too premature for a conclusive closure.
The feminist in me feels a sense of elation, while the romantic me is all droopy mouthed. Babies were meant to be the culmination of love. A family consisting of father, mother and kids was the quintessential picture perfect scenario. Lets face it children do need both parents for a protected, healthy, mature adult to emerge.
The ramifications of this discovery/invention are too intense and far reaching. Here one is not presuming that it is going to take place tomorrow, nor are we getting paranoid, jumping up and down as if females are now going to adopt this technique irrespective. However, even if one is crystal ball gazing into the future, allone perceives is more distancing in relationships, more segregation, more space between individuals and more loneliness.
Wondering.. Did HE want it so? I mean, one hears of old wives tales where our grandmothers used to covertly disclose the reason for sex being..umm.. pleasurable just so that babies were made and the world populace perpetuated ( Indians making their darnedest contribution) Our next question inevitably was ‘ So.. you mean Biji you have had sex only 11 times?” Remember there were large families then!! She’d blush and laugh uproariously. But honestly guys.. wasnt it meant to be that way? Not sex to only create babies silly..but babies born only out of a man woman conjugal union!! Why o Why the need for alternatives?
The only area where one can envisage a positive outcome is in the case of a couple where fertility is a problem. For gay activists this is a red letter day as well. Lesbian couples can now go ahead and have a baby of their own..literally.
And you thought only amoebas self procreated. So whats the new term for us..Womaebas??!!
Will men now feel threatened by women to a greater degree? Its funny ..till man was the patriarch, bread winner and anarchist all in one.. he was happy, contented, potent and healthy. Ever since women have entered into his playing field whether at work or at home, bringing in the moolah, driving his car and him around the bend, he is as if hypertense, popping pills and turning impotent. Did I say impotent? Soon it wont matter any more..at least not to do with baby making.
Whatever happens to good old love making? Nothing.. as if the world was at it just to make babies…if only Biji knew!! Make love – Not babies.. the new age mantra.
And what happens to the teary eyed, raised inverted eyebrow-ed heroine with her’ Mai tumhaare bachche ki maa banne wali hoon” ( I am going to be the mother of your child) ..tsk tsk.. just think about it guys.. you might never ever hear it again!

we had a business commn. session the other day n tat guy made an airy statement abt some stats that says ki… by 2020-25 80% of the guys wud be working under female bosses 🙂 he sounded so dramatic n all… n he expected a shiver to roll over the junta (most were of the ‘man’-kind!) – tell u, it was pretty funny n maybe i missed his point totally… nonetheless, i laughed it off.

i just wonder how much more complicated life wud become… how many more permutations wud be borne outta the gyan that we generate… love, affections n such other emotions – wud they stand a chance against the binary logics and codes of science? sadly, we don care at all… we think these are tools to iron out gender divide. liberation n empowerment of the women… this mite be a never ending tiff but still, it wud be nice if we cud turn the page n clt+alt+del the garbage of social history that still drives feminism to duel with MC-isms…. so many -isms that even the brain is offset and programmed to react differently.
whether sex n love are the yard-sticks of male existence, i don know… but it wud just be sad if even now, we talk about someone ‘having the wrong apparatus’ n then concoct some chemical loccha from the bone-marrow n play ‘gawd’…
everything in life is done with a purpose? everyone has a purpose? sounds too fishy if u look for the nuances? when wud these man, woman woes be laid to rest?? ‘love will keep us alive..’ if u’ve heard this number… (i don know abt the marrow-fications of the future, but it saddens me just..)

Which brings us to the point Jatin Ji that does this not amount to incest in a way? Most doctors advise even against marriage between first cousins as is the case in some Muslim families and south India since they feel it may lead to deformities in children. What is this then?

IG..can sense your apprehensions and feel the same. Children need the nurturing of a mothers love and a fathers steadfastness to foster fearlessness without which it would at best be a handicapped childhood. this is not meant to be a critique of those situations where the loss of a father due to death or divorce has led to the ineviatability. But rather a warning to those who opt to a fatherless familial environ. I am totally against it.

Great news, thanks to the inventor (i am sure the one who discovered this is a “Men”)
Its really cool, this was the only thing men could not escape from last 20 centuries, now girls would work, fight, invent and reproduce, and men can easily sit and smoke and drink and party hard! I am really dying to see a world where Women would live,work, earn and fight for men, hope this is what heaven would be 🙂
