Update 24th Oct 07: Amarmani Tripathi, his wife Madhumani and an associate have been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Madhumita Shukla murder case. Amarmani was allegedly having an affair with this young poetess, who he impregnated and then allegedly got murdered. Despite threats to witnesses, he has been charged. Unexpected but dfinitely a welcome indictment.
Update: As expected/predicted Anil Ambani faces roadblock for his SEZ venture approved by Mulayam Singh govt..But it will finally dwindle down into a mere ‘roadblock’ bartered and removed..Honestly how predictable can these politicos get!

Mayawati winning hands down did come as a surprise..but its not as if one went into a swoon and fell off the chair on reading of her thumping majority ( the first time in 14 years that U.P. will not have a milli juli sarkar- BSP has raced ahead capturing more than 2o8 seats.. with SP (Samajwadi party) Mulayam singh getting only 93, while Congress not even on the map) How this will affect Amar Singhs coterie and his hazaar industries in collaboration with his friends Ab and Anil Ambani is a matter of conjecture..Mayawati is poised for a huge battle.. odds on her side…as also the stacks!

When news , information, snippets, trivia, sensationalism, abuses, cynicism over an event begins emerging from the woodwork like termites, my instant reaction goes something like ‘ “I dont want to write on this one..its all over the net, channels, literally coming out of my ears”. A strange resistance to comment on the issue seems to take over, for reasons that have to do with disagreement rather than concurrence with populist sentiment. It seems like a wasteful exercise, and that ‘patient, mature, watchful,’ aspect of my nature ( did I hear a chuckle! how terribly mean 😦 ) takes over and orders a pull back till an opportune moment. The visual of a Gandhi look alike pole dancing, making ridiculous gesticulations, brandishing a sword, running around in utter buffoonery caught my attention. It was a channel airing the clipping which a wannabe comedian Gautham Prasad has proudly broadcast on his site as an illustration of his skewed sense of comedy and which has been lappedup and linked to various other.
In his own words “He describes the performance as one of him dressing up in Gandhi’s clothes, then doing a slow stripping dance but falling short of nudity”… I guess here we are supposed to bow our heads and Praise the Lord..or rather Praise Prasad for his sensitivity in sparing the Mahatama of nudity! A dictator, alleged perpetrator of untold crimes against his people , has been executed. Saddam Hussein walked to the gallows, almost calm, refused to be masked, appearing heroically brave, and was hanged until death..
As if the visual of the exercise leading him to the gallows was not enough, despite being looped continuously almost in barbarity and apathetic primitiveness, what ran concurrently on television channels was this gruesome news..The Nithari Killings..The first of its kind in India if not the world.
